Before you start writing, it is important to clarify who will read your internship report. Is it an internship supervisor in the company or a teacher from the school who visited you during the internship? If you write an internship report at the university, it will have to look different depending on the department’s structure and formalities, such as scope and formatting. You should clarify this at your teaching institution. Surely there is a guide or something similar, or your supervisor can give you tips on this.
Scientific conventions of the internship report
In some cases, the internship report represents the first point of contact with the academic work. Depending on the subject, i.e., depending on whether it is about natural science, social sciences, teaching, or engineering, different conventions must be observed. How should you proceed with bibliographies and citations? How are diagrams and tables numbered? Here, too, you should get instructions from your university. If that doesn’t help, you can find an article or book on your subject and see how it did there. It is important that the form is uniform and that the reader can find and read your sources again.

The structure of internship reports is relatively fixed. It can have advantages because you can orient yourself and don’t have to think up an outline. On the other hand, you have to fill in all the points that you expect. Depending on the situation, there are building blocks that you can use as you find it most useful. Structure of the internship report
As I said, the structure of the internship report varies immensely depending on the department. We’ll give you a little orientation here:
The title “student internship” and the date appear on the cover sheet. Your name and your grade follow this. State the name of your school and the teacher supervising your internship. It is followed by the name, the address of your internship company or company, & the name of your contact person there.

What does your workplace look like, or that of the colleagues who practice the profession you are aiming for? Also, what qualifications are required to practice it? What are the possibilities to seize it? Find out what the options on the job market look like now or, if possible, will they be in the future? The industry may change. Which forecasts can make now?
4. Daily report
In the next sub-point, some schools require daily reports. If possible, describe two different working days with the tasks and deadlines that arise.
5. Statement on the internship concerning the expectations mentioned under 1
You can evaluate your impressions in the statement. Take stock of whether your expectations are met or whether there is anything to criticize. If you have any suggestions on how the internship or the support could have been better for you, write them down here. Finally, you should consider how the internship influenced your career choice. Write how you want to further orientate yourself professionally.

Internship report in the social sciences
Similar requirements are also placed on the internship reports in the social sciences. You should work on the following points in it:
Cover sheet: It should contain important personal data (name, address, email address, matriculation number, semester, name of the module) as well as information about the internship (date and internship position)
You should justify/write your choice of internship and describe the application phase in internship report. Formulate goals. You shouldn’t just do this about the internship report. Comment on the supervision during your internship: Did you feel well looked after? Would you recommend the position to other interns? Under which conditions?
Establish a connection to your studies: Were you able to apply the knowledge acquired during your studies? To what extent should there be changes in the range of courses to compensate for any deficits in preparation for practice?
In conclusion, you should reflect on what extent the internship has benefited you. What was your imagination? What surprised you? Were you able to achieve your goals, or did you have to rephrase them during the internship? Think about and write down whether the internship helped you in your professional orientation. Will the insights gained have an impact on the further design of your studies?
Reflect on whether you can imagine taking up the job you have learned about. If not, explain why and what alternatives you could consider.
Internship report natural sciences
The scientific internship report consists of a cover sheet, test protocol, test report, and references. The report is based on the previously prepared test protocol. It is, therefore, important to keep the minutes carefully when recording during the internship. It is important to write it in your internship report.
The cover sheet contains basic information. Of course, the most important thing is the title or topic of the experiment that will be carried out during the internship. Internship report teaching degree
In the teacher training course, it is often compulsory to write a report on the mandatory school internship. There are various modules that you can work on for the internship report in the teaching profession. 3. Reflection on teaching attempts
Briefly record and reflect on your teaching attempts. Enrich the minutes with song lyrics, student results, and photos and sketches to help you with thoughts and reflection. Answer the following questions in writing:
What went as I planned?
Also, what has been different from what I thought?
What would I do differently now? State the reasons for this.
4. Observation and observation
During the teaching internship, students sit in on their mentors’ school hours. To be able to use this “sitting by” specifically for you, set yourself areas of interest beforehand that can be useful for your observation:
What is the aim of the lesson you are attending? Is this expressed explicitly?

All internship regulations do not require this. It is an observation focus that you can discuss with the help of the research literature. The scientifically developed topics can be, for example, the use of media or the connection between teaching and education. Pay particular attention to the rules of scientific work in this area. Use the usual conventions of your faculty as a guide.
6. Final considerations
In a final section, you can express yourself personally about your internship. Consider whether the internship met your expectations or whether everything went differently? Did the internship confirm your choice of studies, and if so, did it move you to continue your studies differently or to weigh it differently?
With the internship report about the work at a school, you should ensure that you have observed a duty of confidentiality. Express your own opinion, but objectively, distant, and always factually well-founded. Keep an eye on your learning progress, which can also arise from bad experiences. Be careful not to make judgmental comments, and keep in mind that someone from your internship school will likely read your report as well.
